As Lyme Disease grows it's beginning to effect well known public figures. Actress Parker Posey now has it.

But I wonder how long she's had it and as you know, the longer you've had it the harder it can be to get rid of. My feelings are that she probably has had Lyme Disease for a while, but has just now gotten a diagnosis for it...like most people with Lyme.

Anyway, I'm sadden to hear of it. And I hope she recovers completely.
Go to www.BeatLymeDisease.com to find out more!
beatlymediseasehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06505197258169881133noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5118716550216910140.post-90211644368141864042009-08-18T16:45:00.003-04:002009-08-18T16:53:14.947-04:00Internal Cleansing To Fight Lyme Disease Damage and To Beer or Not To Beer
The Internal Cleanse

Back from my first Triathlon this past weekend in Charleston, SC, I’m ready to do one of the last major cleanses for this year. I really do believe that many health issues can be resolved when we detox ourselves fully and so far I’ve been feeling the effects of them!

I have a high school friend who likes to do something “crazy”once a year for her birthday. Last year we biked from Philly to DC in 4 days on mountain bikes (that’s about
80-100 miles a day on trails!). Since I turn the same age at the end of the year, naturally I always take her up on her challenges.

I decided to go for the triathlon simply because I knew training a little for it would prepare me for this fall when I go train at altitude (the beginning of the training for the U.S. Indoor World Championships in Qatar).

But after doing only 3 training swims (first time swimming since 2003) and doing 5 “bike and runs” on the weekends, I had no idea I would place 3rd in the Open/Elite division. In fact, I rode a mountain bike with hybrid tires and naturally I had to work OVERTIME to try to stay up with the others…which I didn’t and I probably lost about 10 minutes over the 13 miles we rode. Those 10 minutes would have put me in first place!

I was so impressed by some of the older men and women there who were sooo FIT. It was beyond impressive. One guy passed me on his bike. Well, actually lot of guys passed me on the bike part, but since our ages are clearly marked on our calves, I noticed one man who was 59
who flew past me. Gosh, I really need to get a road bike, but it wasn’t like I was standing still by any means!

I should also mention that I kept remembering to drink while riding which I noticed many who weren’t and I think that’s why I blew past everyone on the run.

I noticed many who got off their bikes and immediately had “Charlie Horses” in their calves…but I had the secret weapon. Guess what it was? Taste Sensitive Electrolytes!
They tasted like pure salt while I was biking (which indicates I was in desperate need of it. Everyone else had their “GU” packets but other than providing a quick dose of glucose and perhaps a little caffeine and protein, it didn’t give them their electrolytes properly. I had one of these packets in addition to the electrolytes, so I had everything covered!

.....So I’m hooked on triathlons and will be probably doing more of these to build a base for the rest of my track and field career because I believe it’s going to prepare me for the long racing season.

It was a lot of fun and it is a really good fun sport to plan for participating in if you’re sick. I always say you have to have real physical goals when you’re ill, because saying you just want to feel better is way too VAGUE.

*Met a few nice people who had Lyme
Disease and friends with Lyme Disease at the Tri (all because of my Lyme Disease shirt).

Yep, I'm trying out a frequency ( I Wasn't Lying) see my necklace. :)

To Beer or Not To Beer

Well, I should also admit that I had 7 beers the night before the triathlon and I didn’t sleep at all because I was bitten some months earlier by a tick (see this newsletter here) at this friend’s house INDOORS on her couch. So when I arrived at 12:00 midnight I couldn’t
sleep because I kept thinking ticks were crawling on me. And then at 5:00 am we were up getting ready!

Now, the truth is when I get serious when running I may have a beer every now and then (which means once a month, if that much), but drinking alcohol does two things that aren’t helpful.

One…it can rob your body of IRON (once you go deficient it takes months to get it back).

Secondly… it taxes your liver and you people who are sick (or just training hard physically) shouldn’t be putting any unnecessary burden on your liver. In most
people, it’s super taxed already…especially those with LYME!

So I say stay away from the "Amber Fluids" and also the Burgundy Fluids (that would be wine) for now. And liquor is an absolute NO-NO. You get no benefits from this at all unless you’re just trying to get sloppy drunk or sloppy sick.

....Back To Cleansing

With the actual bacteria in check, keeping your nutrients balanced and detoxing are probably two of the most important things you can do to repair your body and move on with your life.

One of my reasons for having “wild” success is because I’m getting rid of toxins I’ve accumulated for YEARS (30 years to be exact). And boy does it feel good to get rid of them!

I don’t suggest anyone who is seriously battling Lyme and who has all kinds of OTHER issues which need to be taken care of do any kind of major internal cleanse. (Do you want to know about all of the OTHER issues in detail? See Arden for getting coaching from me.)

It can be tough on the body and some people will have “healing crisis” or “herx reactions” because their body is going to be dumping so much of its waste and it can be physically taxing.

It’s a once a year type of thing for people who are healthy and are not totally in the middle of beating back Lyme. You know who you are!

This is the internal cleanse I’m doing right now

It’s a lot of a lot of and it’s worth it!

And having my nutrients balanced on top of that makes this cleanse work BIG TIME. Because all of the essential nutrients in your body go towards the processes that help you
eliminate waste and repair damage done to your organs (from Lyme and from toxins and even medications).

If you haven’t balanced your nutrients yet, shame on you!

Seriously, what are you waiting for?

Here’s what another Tick Slayer just wrote me a few weeks ago about it:

"I've Noticed A Big Difference In My Health"

"Hey, I've been on the Vitamin Kit now for 30 days and I have noticed a big difference in my
health. More energy, alittle less pain, and more mental and emotional strength. I've even started getting out of the house for a few hours each day the lastcouple of weeks. Wow what a difference
its made for me just feeling productive and useful. Now I'm not stupid, I still need to pace myself, take a nap each afternoon, get off my feet, etc... but if you saw me two months
ago vs. today, you'd be saying SHAMWOW! So thanks for encouraging me to try the
kit. "

Please see link, it's pretty funny and I heard it works also.)

While I’m training and racing, I will be doing much simpler things to detox because I think it’s DETRIMENTAL TO MY HEALTH and CONTINUAL MAINTENANCE.

It’s just impossible to do massive ones like this and not feel the effects, which means my training would suffer and it might not be so prudent to be pushing physically so hard while so much of your body’s energy should and WILL be going to detoxing and repairing. So the time is now. You figure out when the time is right for you.

And if you need a real plan and approach (on many things not mentioned in the newsletters), get some coaching from me!

P.S. Could HPU (KPU) Be Making You SICK and Tired?

In a past newsletter (see this newsletter here) I wrote about how a well known LL MD, said 80% of his Lyme patients had HPU (false term is called KPU) and how it can be responsible for chronic fatigue and it this metabolic sickness basically, disarms the immune system by depleting the body of minerals like zinc. Zinc is also what is used to squash the problem!

Dr. Mercola wrote me and told me that tasting zinc doesn't work. I'm still in a debate about
this. I personally believe the effectiveness of John Kitkoski's taste sensitive minerals. I've had an explosively good reaction with them! I have tried to taste zinc tablets before but it always tasted terrible and seem to do nothing. But using the liquid zinc in the kit has always been taste sensitive (either good or it turns bad when I've had my fill).

For those who are using the taste sensitive minerals, I would double or triple my
suggested drop dosage on the bottle until the "whammy" starts to taste strange or NOT SO DELICIOUS (you know the drill) and then you can back off of the zinc part until you want to test yourself again to see if you need it.....

Because there is a good chance you probably have HPU and you can combat it this way. ..and
this is probably why it's not an issue with me.

P.P.S. Know someone who is sick? Know someone you think might have Lyme Disease and they don’t know it? Tell them you care by forwarding this newsletter to them or go to www.BeatLymeDisease.com to sign up!

and I’m trying to report on some of the most significant information that I’ve personally experienced (so I know it’s true).

During a conversation with Dr. Joe Mercola, we were discussing what Dr. Klinghardt was saying about Lymies (excuse me TICK SLAYERS) having mineral deficiencies. Dr. Klinghardt hit this one right on the head.

As I’ve been trying to pound into everyone’s brain, the issue is nutrient deficiencies. I cannot say it loudly enough that it should be priority #1 to fix. How else is your body going to perform
against the onslaught of viruses, bacteria, mold, fungus, yeast, stress, pollution, EMF?…the list goes on and on.

Dr. Klinghardt, along with some other doctors, is big into taking minerals. Unfortunately for my case, I didn’t find out about this until my last year of healing, but getting my minerals balanced was another HUGE step in the right direction…so in my opinion, it’s always better late, than NEVER.

Minerals keep the immune system working. They keep the NK cells and macrophages
pumped up. These are the cells that are the “fighter cells.” Klinghardt says that Lyme patients are most often depleted in copper, magnesium, manganese and iron.

Copper and iron are needed for phagocytosis (the process of devouring the “bad guys”). I remember part of my intense fatigue was simply because I was very low in iron as many people with Babesiosis are. Once I discovered this and corrected the problem, it was another big breakthrough. (Now taking the smell sensitive iron in my kit is all I need to keep it optimum and not have to worry about anemia.) Mind blowing as it seems, I had two doctors, well known LL MDs actually look over my blood work and never picked up on the problem. Hemogoblin is usually on the CBC panel, but Ferritin (your body storage levels of iron) is what should be tested as well. If you don’t have the test, it’s easy enough to just smell what you need now with the kit. But know that iron (for example) is already a nutrient that many people (especially women) are low in. So having something like Babesiosis on to of that means there is a good chance some of
your fatigue could be because of this issue.

Klinghardt also mentions that many Lyme patients suffer from Purroluria. The term is HPU and 80% of his Lyme patients were reported having it. The false term is KPU. This metabolic sickness, disarms the immune system by depleting the body of minerals like zinc (300 enzymes are dependent on this one mineral) and manganese.

Klinghardt further says, “Filling up your body’s mineral reserves has always been the most essential part of our heavy metal detox program. It is also the most essential part of our Lyme treatment.”

This makes sense to me because zinc can displace toxic metals, and almost every Lyme patient will have some type of issue with metals. Heavy metal can attack the body’s methylation pathways. This is a pathway crucial for your body as it detoxes you.

After hearing Dr. Klinghardt, Dr. Mercola was asking me about taking minerals. I simply told him about the taste sensitive minerals I had been on and we agreed that it’s probably what’s been working so well for me and further investigation into this KPU for me, was not an
issue.

I’m perfectly aware that, just like you, we probably have many similar viruses as well. All humans do. But it makes sense that replacing CRUCIAL elements like your essential minerals could really do wonders for you. It did for me. So I pass it on.

You can get the taste sensitive minerals I use right here. Let your body tell you exactly how much of each essential minerals you need BY TASTE!

Electromagnetic Smog And Why It Could Be Making You Sick

We live in a world of cell phones, TVs, phones, wireless internet, etc. We are bombarded by the negative frequencies this technology emits and since our own bodies are electrical, we suffer, because the frequencies produced by this technology are NOT harmonizing with our own bodies.

From studies there is some astonishing evidence that over time these devices can cause harm…which can be seen by looking at someone’s blood under a microscope with and without these bad frequencies.

You may or may not have heard this, but yes, I’ve been playing with frequencies for a LONG TIME! Not only to heal Lyme and other cooties, but to charge my water, food and even air.

This is the science of the future. I do believe it because of my own experience. I go into great detail in my book. (Sign up for release information at TheTickSlayer.com) about using such devices).

My latest testing was done on some geomagnetic cards. They look like credit cards,
but on the strip there is a charge that has been placed on them. One has a frequency to heal and the other has a frequency to remineralize. In combo you can literally TAP your pain away. How
do I know? Because I’ve used them.

I made my mother use them when she had a nasty fall and had an eggplant sized
purple bruise on her leg. Not only did they help the pain, but the healing of the area with a few minutes of use with the cards was quite dramatic. I’ve seen how bruises heal. The last time I
had a purple/black bruise was when I ran up this mountain for 5 miles, turned around and was so tired I got sloppy running down. I hit a rock, giving myself a terrible ankle sprain (so bad it
would have been better had I just broken it).

My purple bruise took weeks to go away. But my mother who is 62 years old had
amazing results. See photos below:

day 1 with cards
day 2 with cards
day 3 with cards

The reason why I’m sharing this is because I’ve found a great cheap way to have someone put this proprietary charge on cards (and perhaps even jewelry). I’ve seen something similar and I’ve been spending the last few months trying out products and trying to figure out what’s best, cheapest and what ultimately WORKS. It’s good to try out these products to see if they are better than the technology that is on these cards. I want what’s best and I know you do as well.

So I’m not finished with my research, but I wanted to share with you how neat this really is.

Back in 2005, I started using a pendant a friend had made for me. He told to be careful with it because it would make me detox. I had my kinesiologist test it on me a year later. He said it made me very parasympathetic. The charge was so strong that I would run like a maniac for about 5 minutes in practice and then BLOW a fuse (probably from being so parasympathetic). What’s interesting is that this is the time I noticed symptoms from Lyme cropping up. I didn’t know it was Lyme yet because I didn’t have my race BOMB yet that made me realize I was sick. But I do recognize that there is a charge that is so powerful it can actually make you detox rapidly and kill bugs as well. There’s a good chance that I began my Lyme journey simply because I put that pendant on and OVERUSED IT. I can't confirm any of this, but if I did use the pendant again during my healing journey because I realized it was going to help me rid myself of toxins. I did use it strategically while detoxing.

Now not all of these card and pendants have this type of power because the charge (frequency put on them) can be manipulated. Frequencies that kill Lyme can be placed on an object and used. Frequencies can align water molecules so that they are easily assimilated. Here are frequencies that promote healing or remineralized tissues.

It’s quite endless. The double whammy I use is taking this aloe and charging it with my card and then ozonating it. You get highly assimilated nutrient packed and oxygenated aloe. YIPPIE! That’s good stuff.

I’m going to continue researching and will dedicate a newsletter to the topic in the near future.

There are many reasons why fatigue is present.

Even with people who are Lyme-Free (should I say those few who are probably left Lyme-Free for now) can have fatigue. Fatigue is becoming more and more prevalent in our society. It all goes along with the increase of autoimmune illnesses. I think fatigue is basically a combination of your body fighting hard to detox nasty substances, the immune system being suppressed (by invaders or by other means), lifestyle not quite right, and nutrient deficiencies.

Today I went for a run and I raced to the grocery store because I had a “hankering” for LIVER. I bought some calf liver (Yeah, I think VEAL is cruel but the liver byproduct is a way better choice then grown up cow, simply because the toxins in the calf liver are far less that that of “daddy cow”). I went home and blended it up (RAW) with some tomato juice and parsley. The vitamin C in the juice helps me assimilate the iron in the organ and parsley is also a nice leafy green that is a great iron source.

I call this the PERRY PUKE SHAKE, although in many countries eating organs is quite natural and those who like eating organ meat will have no problem with this. So it makes me want to puke a little, but the end result is worth it.

The nutrients in the liver are unparalleled. You can buy glandular to treat adrenal exhaustion, which sometimes is the reason why you could be so tired. In fact, it’s one of my running secrets.

I had this crazy Brazilian coach who told me to do this. I have to admit that I’m totally fascinated by the universe. Even when I was so ill I was thinking constantly about my place in the universe. When I was a child growing up, I wanted to be an astronaut for the longest time.

You’re probably wondering what this has to do with Lyme. Actually it has a lot to do with it, since part of the healing process is the understanding of how EVERYTHING is connected. Our bodies are like self contained galaxies trying to equalize themselves, no matter what kind of outside force is present. Our minds are part of it. Our biological terrain is part of it. Our organs (inside and out) are part of it. All of this can be manipulated to near perfection.

“Known Universe” on National Geographic and “Planet Earth” on Discovery Channel are two shows that shouldn’t be missed. I don’t care whether you are into science or not. If you’re sick it’s a good idea to watch these shows. They are both inspiring on several levels. “Planet Earth” explores how life is always burdened and how life always manages to continue on and even flourish under the worst conditions. (Hint, hint.)

It all comes down to….where there is a WILL, there is a WAY. There are always answers out there, some better than others, of course. I sometimes get tired of people believing Lyme is so impossible to overcome. I had full blown Lyme Disease and I was a hair short of making the 2004 Olympic Team (just out of college) in what’s considered the hardest event in track and field, the 800m.

Sure, there were tell-tell signs. At the time I had no idea what was really going on and chalked it up to training hard. But I desired to race and compete and my body followed suit.

Sometimes to get healthy you have to ignite the drive to be healthy. My drive is simple. I want the World Records for my events. Having such a goal leads me in no other direction but UP. With what I do these days as far as taking care of myself, my lifestyle changes and how I dealt with Lyme Disease, I’m pretty confident about my goals.

It’s sometimes not good enough to just say “I want to feel good.” It’s too vague for a goal. Lofty goals are not bad and never let anyone make you think your goal is ridiculous. If you used to be able to ride your bike everyday, well now is the time to think about the goal being to compete in cycling. Maybe it’s a road bike race? Maybe it’s a mountain bike race? Shoot for something you haven't done in years or something you avidly did when you were younger.

When I lived in Tucson, Arizona I hung out with a guy who had Cerebral Palsy. This guy bikes 100 miles every day in the desert on a road bike. He told me once that if he didn’t bike then his limbs will literally tie up in knots and be unusable. Is it hard for him to get started each morning? You bet. It’s a long hard process, but once he’s riding he breaks free from his torture. He’s prolonging his life and keeping the disease from conquering him.

Luckily with Lyme Disease, you don’t have to live with it FOREVER.

Let Food Be Thy Medicine (continued)

If you didn’t get the first newsletter on making your diet help you combat Lyme, please go here.
http://beatlymedisease.blogspot.com/2009/07/let-food-be-thy-lyme-disease-medicine.html

There are some people who believe that food alone can help you cure any type of disease.

It’s surprising that so many people think they eat healthy and really they don’t. That’s why it’s essential for Lymies to do a diet makeover to get well.

Apart from the obvious, like eating out (which more often than not you’re eating some type of processed food), it’s important to control as much as you can when it comes to what you consume. Those who heed this advice will see results.

Luckily, I didn’t have to do a hard diet makeover when I became ill. I was already consuming organic proteins, eating plenty of legumes, lentils, high quality rice, quinoa (a South American grain full of protein and complex carbohydrates), and organic vegetables. I stayed away from the “dirty dozen” (those fruits and vegetables that should be purchased organic as they contain the highest amounts of pesticides): Bell Peppers, Celery, Potatoes, Spinach, Apples, Cherries, Grapes, Nectarines, Peaches, Pears, Raspberries and Strawberries. The bottom of my food pyramid was WATER (clean, oxygenated, spring water) and not grains.

I already knew what my food allergies were. Basically I’m gluten intolerant. That’s an allergy that made me fairly sick all through college before it was diagnosed. But by knowing this ahead of time, it wasn’t adding to the problem by the time Lyme came around.

Getting enough protein is essential…especially from different sources. If you can’t eat enough protein, you can at least get some from making a shake with protein mix. My favorite is Pea and Rice protein because it’s a complete protein and Whey protein is not always tolerated by some people. I don’t have a milk allergy, but Whey sometimes makes me feel sick and it does so for many people.

The debate is on going about Soy Protein, but I personally hate Soy. Not only is most of it genetically modified, but another thing to be scared about: see http://www.saynotogmos.org/ but by adding soy to your diet you risk damage to the thyroid, reproductive disorders, immune system breakdowns and other issues.

It’s touted as “healthy” but it wasn’t even considered a real food until just recently. Fermented Soy can be beneficial (think tempeh, Natto, a great enzyme for breaking down Fibrinogen, and Miso). The importance of grains is paramount. Grains not only provide complex carbohydrates, BUT they help absorb toxins in the gut and digestive system.

Getting Enough Fats?

Quickly let me explain that fats are not all bad. Everyone is so worried about bad fats that many people, when they do indulge themselves in fatty foods, it’s usually the wrong kind of fats. No natural fats are intrinsically good or bad, it’s the proportions that matter. Food processing is always the culprit.

Those who have bad inflammation usually have a terrible imbalance of their Fatty Acids.

When they are imbalanced inflammation can run amuck.

Good way to tell if your fatty acids are imbalanced? Look at the bottom of your feet. Are your feet dry and cracking? If so, you probably have an imbalance.

Another good way to tell is if you take aspirin and it reduces your inflammation, it means you have an imbalance of fats. (*Taking aspirin and other NSAIDs can destroy joint cartilage, cause liver and kidney damage, cause headaches, skin rashes and ringing in the ears. It can also interfere with sleep patterns and make changes in body temperature.)

Vo2 Max is a measurement for athletes as to how good their oxygen uptake is. It increases by an easy 20% when athletes consume more fats in their diets. Fats = energy.

If you’re worried about cholesterol, just know that impairment of the liver is a big reason why cholesterol runs wild in some people, it’s simply because their liver is not breaking it down. Many natural fats actually balance cholesterol.

Stay away from processed fats like hydrogenated fats and pump up your intake of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Think Flax seed oil, Borage oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and foods like nuts which contain these acids.

For one of the ultimate “oil experiences” I suggest this Aloe Oil because it’s has the perfect balance and is a rare product that does some pretty wondrous things for many individuals whether it’s digestive issues or inflammation issues. This aloe juice contains complete fatty acids.

***In full disclosure of “Fats” I should say I’m a big consumer of RAW WHOLE MILK (hormone free, of course) and other dairy products that are WHOLE and not reduced or overly processed in any way. What this means is that I’m satisfied. I don’t go running around making bad late night choices and eating junk because I’ve been denying myself fats (of the saturated or unsaturated dairy kinds). If you did the same you might be surprised to see yourself actually lose a few pounds.

……to be continued.

Tomorrow in Columbia, South Carolina

I’ll be at the showing for Under Our Skin in Columbia, South Carolina tomorrow night. That’s this Tuesday at 6pm. It’s at the Nickelodeon Theater. I’ll be on the Talk Back panel after the movie, so come, ask questions, and bring your friends.

Lyme-Austim Conference/ Poker Tournament Photos

Wanna have a few good laughs…at my expense?

Check out these photos from the conference and plan on going next year! And those getting my newsletter will be
able to VOTE on the TITLE of the book and the COVER of the book (and the pictures are coming out quite stunning). The Lyme-Autism
Conference was this weekend in Phoenix was fantastic and I strongly encourage you to go next year. I had a few Lyme doctors (which I'm
very familiar with their research) try to "pump" me for information, but I too discovered some other helpful information I did not know about
until this weekend.

A Tough Choice

As you know the US Track and Field Championships was this past weekend.

In February I had started my comeback and was training like I’ve never been able to before! This was exciting and
quite a relief emotionally and physically. After running a FAST 1600m (mile) I thought this was going to be the year I would DIVE back into
athletics. But something strange happened. I had a burning desire to write a book about what had happened and how I beat my health issues
(including Lyme.)

In March I had to make the decision to race the outdoor season this year or not. Trying to devote my time between
writing, a small business I own, and running became an entangled ordeal.

For those who know about professional athletics, it is a FULL TIME JOB. I’m a Type A person and when I get involved in
something I can’t do it “half-assed.” I knew what I was writing was going to change the lives of a lot of people and I knew there were too
many people sick right now who needed to read it…so I made my decision for this year and it wasn’t to race.

I’ve had to make two really hard decisions in my life and this surprisingly wasn’t one of them! Since March of this year
I’ve been focused on getting the book out. I believe it will change the lives of 100% of those inflicted with Lyme and 94% of people who don’t
have Lyme (meaning general population, especially those with autoimmune diseases.)

To me there are too many people suffering so it really wasn’t a choice at all. It just had to be done. After attending
the conference and meeting some of the people who get my newsletter I feel even more confident of the decision I've made about not racing this
year. The book is being edited and is scheduled to be released during the 4th quarter of this year.

Lyme Diet

There is so much information on eating for Lyme Disease that it can’t possibly fit all in this newsletter. So what I’m
going to do is break up these points for future newsletters and include some basic information right now.

I hate to use the word DIET because it sounds like you’re eating to lose weight. Let me just say I’ve always been on a
diet, but it’s never been to lose weight, because if you make the right choices, then you won’t have to worry about weight. It’s ALL about
choices.

My first tip is to get your FOOD ALLERGIES TESTED.I’m gluten intolerant and struggled since high school with all kinds of
strange symptoms from it until it was finally diagnosed with one year left to go in college. It’s the reason why I didn’t go to med school. It
was simply because I felt like my doctors had totally failed me. What a simple solution to all of my problems and never did anyone say, “maybe
it’s something you are eating!” Instead, I was the crazy one. Ever felt this way?

You can get a FOOD STAT blood test done to find out what you react to. Big tip is to eat all types of foods (whether you
think you’re allergic to it or not, eat it) so that your reaction to the test will show up. I don’t ever eat GLUTEN and so my gluten reaction
didn’t show up this last time I was tested. I should have nibbled on some bread right before the test.

Food can be an amazing healing device. Just think when you take a supplement and how SMALL it is. Then think about how
many serving sizes of that supplement would fit into your lunch portion or dinner portion.

I have a lot of food rules so I’m going to go through just a few today.

#1: Stop eating processed foods. You probably have heard this. Not only do you not get the nutrients that you
need, but you’re probably getting calories you don’t need either. When shopping for food in the grocery store, stick to the perimeter of the
store. I hardly ever go down the aisles unless it’s for spices, salt, balsamic vinegar, etc.

#2: Consume dairy products free of hormones.
Eat RAW dairy if possible. Hormones run wild when you are diseased because your body can’t regulate itself, but adding to the problem is
when you start eating foods from animals which are passing on certain hormones to screw up your balances even more. Thanks to local South
Carolina farmers, you can get raw milk which is full of enzymes and I’ve been drinking it for years now. LOVE IT. Pasteurization kills the good
stuff…in all packaged foods.

Wonder why 10 years old girls are starting to get their periods and have boobs? We live in an industrial country, even in
the South (thanks to the Civil War, and of course, it was probably inevitable anyway.) We simply are over-estrogenized. So stop eating out
of plastics (whenever possible) because they leach chemicals that increase this phenomena. Don’t microwave in plastics. Don’t drink hot
liquids in styrofoam cups! I majored in Packaging Engineering and I know things about plastics that are REALLY scary.

#3 Consumer meat products which are free of hormones. Meat is not bad to eat. I think some blood types do better
with less meat and some do better with more meat. I’m 0+, which means I need meat. When I train and race, if I don’t eat beef three times a week
I feel like terrible. When I’m not training or racing, I find other sources of protein and maybe eat meat once or twice a week.

When I go into a grocery store I start thinking about how the animals were processed because happy animals taste better
and are better for you. When animals are treated poorly and are scared to death when they are slaughtered their muscles are full of adrenaline.
Not a good substance for you to be eating. (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6T9G-4SHF4PW-1&_user=10&_coverDate=09%2F30%2F2008&_alid=938818708&_rdoc=36&_fmt=high&_orig=search&_cdi=5114&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_ct=900&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=ef239c7a4d671285799ccdd8cc2dcf32 ) *This is a safe link, even though it looks like it isn't.

And to be honest because I am familiar with how these animals are processed I know if you knew how bad it was, you
wouldn’t be eating these major brands either. I personally don’t want to be part of the problem. I know by consuming it, I am. Therefore, I have
found other solutions which keep me healthier physically and HAPPIER.

Most people don’t even think about this when they are picking up those little plastic wrapped trays of meat in their
grocery store. But perhaps you’ll start doing this because it’s not only the right thing to do for humanitarian reasons, but it is right for your
health.

#4 Buy Local. In South Carolina there is a movement to eat products born and raised in South Carolina. I’m sure
other states are already doing this. It’s so easy to get your groceries from local farmers who sell directly to people. It means lower costs and
higher quality foods.

Produce grown by locals usually aren’t stripped farm (a common commercial farming technique.) This means the produce is
grown in soil which has more nutrients. It also means it’s picked when it’s ripe, not picked green (which means it hasn’t had enough time on
“the vine”.) A lot of the produce in grocery stores has little nutrient value. So buy local produce.

Meats that are raised and slaughtered locally mean animals don’t have to go through the grueling processing which is cruel
and unusual. I read an article in the Wall Street Journal about how smaller farms are now using mobile slaughterhouses so their animals can
be processed right at home. A farmer was interviewed, who names all of his animals and he said it was the best way for them to die. Each animal
is called over, away from the others and is slaughtered so quickly it doesn’t have time to even know what’s going on. The meat is healthier
and tastier as a result.

In SC we can get buy an entire cow, have it slaughtered (the natural way) and put it in the freezer. We hardly buy
meats from the grocery store now and when we do we buy “certified humane” and “no growth hormones” and “grass feed”. Is it worth the
extra cost? HECK YES. Food is essential and if you eat junk, well…you know the old saying.

#4 Stop eating PORK. This is a hard one because I think the #1 indulgent food is PORK. People LOVE pork. But
you have to know Jews and Muslims got this right. They don’t eat pork for religious reasons, but it might as well be for health reasons! I’ve
been reading way too many studies that show pork consumption causes an inflammatory response in humans. With so many Lymies who have
inflammation, why add to it?

I’ve been off pork for a long time and will stay off. I know that if I’m ever craving pork, it’s almost always because
I’m low in Niacin. Yep, pork has a ton of Niacin and other B-vitamins. If I’m craving pork and I smell my smell
sensitive vitamins, the Niacin smells wonderful (the clue that I need it.)

*** At the conference I was horrified to hear about certain research that has been done on GMO
foods. GMO stands for Genetically Modified Foods and while I knew this was an issue, I had no idea how bad this situation is for our own
health. I'll write about it in the near future (hopefully this week).

This newsletter has gotten long enough, so the Lyme Diet information will continue. I’m almost finished re reading
Dr. Maffetone’s Eating For Endurance which has great information in it. So I’ll be discussing some of his
points in the near future.

Expect the best,

Contact Arden For Lyme Coaching (she can get back to you even
though I cannot right now): arden@beatlyme.com

What's On My Blog?
Feel Free To Interact!

Bitten By A Tick Again- But This I'm
Prepared!- Click here

Electrolyte Imbalances Are Common In
All People Who Are Sick/ Correcting The Imbalance - Click here

How long does a tick need to be attached? I wanted to read it again because
the information about diet is so important and before I write a newsletter packed with ideas and tips about what a typical diet should look like, I thought I better refresh my memory.

I bought this book about four years ago because as an elite athlete I knew that getting an edge on the competition meant focusing on everything I could conrol. Diet is one thing we can ALL control, whether we are athletes or we are fighting disease…it’s all the same.

Don’t let the title of the book fool you. The principles in it can be applied to anyone who is trying to optimize their health and I feel like it’s one of the absolutely best books on diet I’ve ever read, because there is no BS. It has nothing to do with “fads.” It’s just the truth about foods and how the body processes food for energy.

So next week should be the newsletter on my eating tips. Don’t miss it.

And if you really want to dive into it (which I always suggest people do), get the book! You'll earmark so many pages of importance that you'll want go back over and over again!

Get it cheap at Amazon here:

Eating for Endurance: A Sensible Approach to Diet and Nutrition for the Endurance Athlete

Nasty Attitudes

I know I’ve already written about changing attitudes and how important it is to recovery. I want to share with you a good way NOT to get healthy.

I already know that you can feel down and out when you’re terribly ill. Emotions run wild and sometimes can’t be contained. You want to blame everyone, including the tick, your doctor(s), your insurance company and perhaps even me. Don’t be angry that I’m recovered. In fact, I’m a very valuable tool that you have the option of utilizing.

Just recently I had a woman email me. She was mad that my last newsletter said, “Go and have some fun this weekend.” Yes, that’s right. She was angry that I wrote that!

She then told me how she was spending 2k a month on Mepron. She is apparently terribly ill. I wrote her back (I always try to get back to everyone who writes me) and encouraged her to try some different avenues since she was so ill and was still spending 2k a month, for months, and still not getting better. This infuriated her even more. Plus she was seeing “the best” doctor in town, a Dr. H. (I won’t use name) in New Hyde Park.

After doing some quick research on who she was, (which I usually don’t do) I found out she was a psychologist who was unable to work and had her license to work taken away because of her
disability. I felt terrible for her, but on the other hand here I am offering her a major change in health and all she can do is try to rip me a part verbally for being encouraging. Ouch!

She told me to do some more research and that if I didn’t understand why she was spending 2k a month on Mepron that I obviously didn’t know enough about Lyme.

I didn’t write her back. I just removed her from my newsletter list.

Yes, I may not know what some experts know about the (sometimes pointless) details about Lyme. I just know how to beat it, so if that’s not enough then I’m okay with that. I really don’t need to know what people are spending for medications. I think it’s unnecessary to know. I know enough about it because of my own ordeal years ago with meds, but I can’t get sucked into that battle now. My attention goes to getting people healthy. That’s it.

And I do coach people with PhDs, but only those who can swallow their egos. To me I felt like this is one of the biggest reasons why some people don’t get healthy. It’s because some
people think they’ve done everything and they believe they know everything….so why keep trying?

I hope you don’t feel that way. It’s important to check egos at the door when getting your health back because good information can come from the strangest places. No MD knows it all. No
MD will have all of your answers. Empowering yourself and knowing what you have to do is the key.

To me a psychologist believes in medication, hence her reliance on 2k dollars worth of Mepron a month. Expanding your mind to the possibilities no matter what your background is, IS ESSENTIAL.

Just some food for thought.

Here’s what others are saying who have been coached by me:

“I have made some progress already. Technically it’s a bacteria, but since it feeds, multiplies and tears your insides apart, it’s parasitic.

Parasites are in everyone. There is probably zero enhance that there is ONE person on this earth who doesn’t have them.

I found out I had a terrible case of parasites .

I remember a lab technician telling me I had one of the worst cases of parasites he’d
ever seen. He said he saw one other case that was worse than mine! He told me about this girl who embalmed people in a funeral home who was worse then me. That didn’t make me feel much better. So he suggested I needed to purge myself of them and suggested several different products...

Because I do a parasite cleanse once a year, I have tried several kinds and this one is by far my favorite.

Check out my top pick for Parasite Cleansing and Removal
(this is what I use once a year).

The first time I did a parasite cleanse I thought I would have to go the ER on the third day because the die off from the parasites created this burn like rash that covered my entire body (except my face oddly enough). The rash felt like a 1st degree burn. Looking closely at it, there were tiny little white specks peeping out from my skin. (Were these dead worms?) Even stranger was the matter that I found in the toilet after trips to the bathroom.

Your case of parasite die off will probably not be nearly as bad as mine. I believe a good parasite cleanse kills Lyme bacteria as well. Reducing your load of parasites frees up your own immune system to focus on other important issues.

There are really three great ways to kill parasites naturally.

One is do a parasite cleanse (once a year is optimal but if you have a bad case which you can note by die off symptoms like a rash, you may want to do it twice a year).

Two is oxygen. Parasites hate oxygen. Oxygen kills parasites, mold, fungus and bacteria. (I've already written about using an ozone machine here.) The actual ozone machine I use is here.

Third is saturating yourself with aloe. This method is not as strong for killing parasites as doing a cleanse, BUT it keeps parasites from running rampant after you do a good cleanse
and in the meantime it’s a natural inhibitor of bacteria, mold and fungus. (Want to know more about aloe and how it can be used for inflammation, repair, detoxing, go here.)

I do all three. On a daily basis I saturate yourself with aloe to kill the “bad stuff” and repair the “good stuff.” I ozonate my water everyday and drink it and also use it in my house to
clean the air. And I always do a parasite cleanse once a year. This is great news knowing that it took my bull’s eye rash from a deer tick in 2003, almost 4 years to go away!

I expected the aftermath of this new infection to go exactly the way it’s going. My theory is correct. I strongly believe if you prep your body for invaders then your body can fight efficiently. After all, we have an immune system! It’s wondrous and science still doesn’t tell us exactly how it works.

So no symptoms at all from the actual infection. BUT, I’m having some negative symptoms
from the Doxy I decided to take as a SUPER PRECAUTION. Because I could identify the tick (Dog Tick), the subsequent rash is most likely RMSF; see the picture on my blog. I knew that taking a short course of Doxy is just a good way to be super prudent in this situation.

Had I not known I was bitten or developed a rash of any kind (remember, when you get a rash it means you’ve already been exposed to that bacteria/pathogen), like most people, I’m still pretty confident that because of my preparation, my lifestyle, and the health tools* I use everyday that my body would be able to fight effectively. *I'll be talking about many more things I used in the future, because I have an opinion on just about everything.

Who knows when I’ll be bitten again! Who knows how many times any of us have been bitten or how many times we will continue to be bitten and exposed to the same
diseases. I refuse to live in a bubble. I refuse not to go outside because I enjoy being outside.

Physiological Problems From Antibiotics

I know lots of people are on long term antibiotics to try to reduce their load of bacteria from
tick born illnesses. Unfortunately, when you pick up your prescription there is no warning that says MAY CAUSE YOU TO ACT UNLIKE YOURSELF. I’m sure Big Pharma would say that these antibiotics do have some side effects but they would never cause mental problems.
What I noticed this time around, is that as soon as I started taking the Doxy I had severe depression. It was like my mood had changed from PERKY to MELANCHOLY within hours. My guess for why this happened is because I had some testing done to prove that I can’t detox antibiotics well. Which means a little goes a long way and taking medications or exposing myself to certain pollutants will cause other negative symptoms to occur, including MENTAL issues.

In fact, I believe most people have some type of defunct enzymes in their detox pathways which
won’t allow processing of certain chemicals. This is how evolution continues. Genes change over time. It’s the same reason why so many white people (mostly Anglo-Saxons) have problems with gluten or have allergies to wheat (because we've been eating it for thousands of years).
Now Bartonella, one of the stars of Lyme Disease is bacteria that can cause rage in people and it is bad enough to have. I believe most people with Lyme Disease have Bartonella. A sick tick…is carrying a plethora of bacteria. But getting on medications to treat Lyme Disease can cause a DOUBLE WHAMMY OF EMOTIONAL TURMOIL.

Think about the chimp who “ripped off the face of his caretaker” and did you read the part where the chimp was being treated for Lyme Disease. Not only did he have Lyme, but he was also on medication. I believe that chimp was having a serious out of body experience due to bacteria and drugs. Obviously living with an adult chimp is a choice most of us would not make, but I’m sure this probably would not have happened if the circumstances were different.
And how about that kid inTennessee who went into his church and shot his preacher earlier this year? The mom was reported saying that her son wasn’t behaving like himself and he was being treated for Lyme Disease.

As some of you know I’m writing a tell-all book about my Movie-Like-Audacious life of track and
field and full recovery from Lyme Disease. I had spent a lovely weekend, biking, running and swimming at Hilton Head Island. Back from our trip, I was reclining on the sofa and I noticed a tick crawling away from me up the back of the couch. I was horrified and ran to the bathroom to check my body for ticks and there was a round red rash and a bite mark.

It appeared to be a bull’s eye.
Usually Dog Ticks don’t carry Lyme Disease. They carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or Colorado Tick Fever, but the

rash looked like Lyme Disease initially.

(same tick bite, two different looks)After seeing the bite, I had to leave my trip early

and drove four hours back home because I knew I had to start working on it right away. After all, I spent four years fighting Lyme Disease because I didn’t do ANYTHING after I knew I had been bitten.
Unfortunately, my friend didn’t have what I needed topically or internally so I raced back home, driving through a huge thunderstorm that resulted in several accidents (not mine) along the highway and not arriving until 12:30 a.m.

Once you’ve been bitten, it’s safe to assume that you were bitten previously, perhaps unknowingly, and will probably be bitten again during your lifetime. I thought maybe I would just never go outside during the summer and only take vacations in the winter, but
that is just ridiculous. I will not let a tick spoil my fun and keep me from living life to the fullest.
**The picture below is of me hiking in the same place I was first bitten by a Lyme carrying Deer Tick just a few years later after my recovery started. It's the Appalachian Mountains!

I know that maintaining my own health is my best defense. What makes this time around different is the speed in which I took action. Thankfully I knew I had been bitten, but I’m also not stressed out, deficient in nutrients, and don’t have other health issues like the time when my Lyme came back with a vengeance two years after I was bitten.

I can now say that my body is as perfectly balanced in nutrients as it can be. This is quite a relief because deficiencies are like cracks in asphalt. Over time they make for a dangerous road. I’m on a smell sensitive vitamins and taste sensitive mineral and an electrolyte kit.
This covers my base and provides me with the correct essentials for my unique body chemistry.
Arriving home, I took MMS. I do believe it has

great pathogen fighting qualities, but I also think people should take it with caution depending on the severity of the illness. A little goes a long way, so follow the instructions as closely as you can.
You can learn more about MMS here and the type I am taking currently for this new bite.

MMS Information
(I will write a newsletter about MMS in the near future.)

I also grabbed my aloe concentrate and put the concentrate on the bite. I took some of it orally as well. I know this not only supports my immune system, but it also has natural
anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-mold properties. Plus it squelches any type of inflammation (so I’m stopping the problem before it begins.)
Next, I took my taste-sensitive electrolytes. They were super salty so apparently all of that running around in Hilton Head caused an electrolyte imbalance (which is common and predictable.) I also used the electrolytes topically on the bite and I bathed in them.

Yes, the electrolytes are not only good for repairing an electrolyte imbalance, but are a great “heal all” for your skin infections.
I bathed in ozonated water the next day. I’ve already mentioned the ozone machine, but ozonating your drinking water and bathing in it is quite beneficial, not to mention you can also clean the air in your house with it. My ozone machine has a simple little connector hose where I can switch quickly from ozonating the air to ozonating water. I placed the hose into the bath to ozonate the water.
Oxygen kills every pathogen known to man, that’s why in small quantities it’s a FANTASTIC personal healing tool.
Lastly, I’m taking a short course of Doxycycline.

Why? Because I know that taking an antibiotic quickly after KNOWING you have a tick bite can drastically reduce your chances of becoming chronically ill. I’d rather be safe than sorry. Even though I’m really quite comfortable with the tools I just mentioned, I want to be extra
safe. Doxycycline is used to combat the diseases associated with Dog Ticks when taken quickly after being bitten.
I’m not against taking medications as a last resort or for emergency situations. It’s when medications are taken long term is where I disagree with conventional medicine.

Unfortunately most people are just too weak and sick from late diagnosed tick infections for medications to work successfully. I understand the concept of getting worse before getting better because I went through that, but too many people NEVER get better and stay on medications that keep their own bodies from functioning the way God intended.
This is when it becomes a downward spiral and there are just too many people with tick born illnesses whose weaken bodies are spiraling out of control.

After getting to the end of my own personal rope several years ago I went the opposite direction that most go for Lyme treatment, in an attempt to save myself, and I wouldn’t be where I am
today had I stuck to conventional ideas. I feel so pleased to have trusted myself so much because saying “Good-bye” to one of the top Lyme doctors in the country was psychologically difficult. Being a maverick does occasionally have its upside!
Final Thoughts

Strangely enough, I know I should be feeling ill already from this tick bite. Back in 2003 I had what I thought was PMS and flu like symptoms. I’m paying close attention to what actually
happens with my body. Will I get any symptoms at all? Will my bite heal quickly? (It took almost 4 years to get rid of my last bull’s eye.)
The only symptoms I have are from taking MMS and the antibiotic as I’m VERY sensitive to medications, smells and even sounds! I thought about going for a long run today, but I think it’s best to play it safe for now.

I realize that this probably won’t be my last bite as ticks are practically everywhere, but I think it’s prudent to have the tools that I’ve mentioned to shield yourself from future trouble
because I believe that even if you’re currently sick, you WILL be able to get your health back. You just have to continue to persevere.
Tick born illness is just another pathogen that we are exposed to on a daily basis, so to beat Lyme, you have to prepare your body for anything and everything.

I’ll keep you posted on this “new tick bite development,” but I’m sure I’ll have promising results.
Montacuk Monster

This was reported a few weeks ago. My friend, Les Roberts, the author of “The Poison Plum,” is mentioned in the article. I have no idea what the Montauck Monster is, but to me is seems like an experiment gone terribly wrong. He very bluntly said that I was “sad” because I wasn’t standing up for Lymies and for myself. He later apologized, but I can understand his anger.

This is the situation. I’m not an activist. I’m an advocate. I find solutions to problems. My goal is to help people get healthy first. If the opportunity arises to do something greater and get involved politically, I just might. I’m not SAD at all.

What I’ve done is pretty remarkable. But I can’t let anger rule me. In fact, I do know probably more than I want to about the breakdown in the medical world and Lyme being a bio warfare bug. Yes, I WAS upset about it, but how can anyone fight when they don’t feel good. There are many injustices in the world and when you’re sick, you’ll kill yourself trying to worry about them.

There’s a place and time for everything. My point is that many of us probably know already quite a bit about the situation with insurance, politics and medical world involving Lyme. I have a few friends who have written about and ARE continuing to write about these issues.

For people who are sick, the focus should be on oneself and NOTHING else. You can’t use up valuable energy fighting and you shouldn’t. You can’t be angry. You should be determined. Being determined gives you a positive focus. Being angry wears on you emotionally and physically.

Electrolytes – Making You Feel Soooo Much Better!

I know I’ve already written briefly on this, but this is the deal. Everyone who is ill needs to have their electrolytes balanced. There is no excuse to be running around ill with Lyme and ill with an electrolyte imbalance.

Electrolytes provide the means, when combined with proper circulation and balanced body chemistry, to maintain proper blood pressure, circulate nutrients, rebuild damaged tissues and expedite waste from the body, including our lymphatic circulatory system. This is a HUGE deal with people who have bacteria in their body.

Yesterday, I was working on my book in the morning and was writing about this problem of my lymphatic system becoming “clogged” by bacteria which was trying to make its “last stand” and slowing down the lymph nodes by clogging them. Of course, I explain it in much better detail, but the point is that because neurotoxins from Lyme can make you as sick or worse than the bacteria itself, it’s important to make sure all neurotoxins are leaving your body in an orderly fashion. Electrolytes are essential for this.

I had not known about the need to balance electrolytes at that time. Unfortunately, many people are already imbalanced, but people who are sick are always unbalanced. Medications make the problems even worse. I hear people complain about nausea, dizziness, fatigue, etc. from not only Lyme, but also from the medications they are on. Having your electrolytes balanced combats the problem, and it may even completely reverse many symptoms.

There is actually too much information to completely cover everything about the electrolyte situation, but if you have any of these problems below:

• Suffer from heat-related illnesses
• Suffer from stress-related disorders
• Sweat excessively or don’t sweat easily
• Have circulation problems (cold hands and feet)
• Have low or high blood pressure
• Take medications which affect blood pressure
• Eat poorly or have poor drinking habits
• Are susceptible to infections and colds
• Exercise regularly or
• Have an existing illness or disease

…you need to go here to discover what you can do about it (because you can’t just eat more salt or drink a sports drink to help you with this serious medical problem!)

http://www.healthtoheart.com/fluid-electrolytes-drink.htm

and also get this report (you may pass it around to anyone you suspect has some illness due to the common electrolyte imbalance but so often overlooked!)

Download your Free Electrolyte Report Here

There is a price break on these electrolytes that I use and honestly if you suspect you have some problem from reading the above information, and you don’t get and USE this product, then there might be a reason why you’re so sick…Get what I’m saying? Consider this email a small blessing.

Go here to get the ones I used to get myself balanced. (It’s made a very big difference, as you can read my testimonial on the right hand side)

Go to www.BeatLymeDisease.com to find out more!
beatlymediseasehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06505197258169881133noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5118716550216910140.post-4741838440610474882009-05-31T17:36:00.003-04:002009-05-31T17:41:32.057-04:00Treating Inflammation Associated With Lyme DiseaseHi Everyone,

I’m plugging away at my book about my Lyme Disease journey, through treatments, healing and personal discovery. I’m 250 pages into it and am now adding in all missing segments. Because I just did so much. In fact, I did so much I had to go back and look at my progression through certain treatments so that I could write about it. What’s more interesting is that I haven’t had writer’s block at all..it’s like I’ve been dying to get this off my chest for some time now.

Treating Inflammation With A Natural Remedy

Today I wrote about dealing with inflammation. Just about everyone with Lyme Disease or a co-infection has this problem. Inflammation can be triggered by a number of things and since Lyme Disease is a disease of opportunity, those people who had a brewing inflammation problem, coupled with Lyme Disease are probably hurting really bad. Because Lyme Disease compounds any prior health issue. The inflammation from Lyme Disease is caused by bacterial lipoproteins (BLPs) and it triggers autoimmunity (in which your own immune system gets reved up and sometimes attacks itself.)

If that weren’t bad enough I strongly believe many people have serious gut health issues, especially those with Lyme Disease ( I’ll cover more in a future newsletter), but for now, know that your gut may be inhabited by pathogens, other than Lyme Disease bacteria. These pathogens can also cause inflammation. And inflammation can travel around in the body, spreading like a disease.

Inflammation is one of the things that MUST get under control and those who master it have a good chance of recovering fully, so it’s very important to fight the inflammation back.

One of the best inflammation fighters I used during my Lyme Disease fight, was aloe. It sounds so simple and yet it’s so effective. When I had Lyme Disease I had terrible inflammation down my spin and around my neck. My skin along my shoulders and down my back was constantly itchy and tingling. This was a sure sign of having an overload of inflammation! I talk about a lot of things I did in my book, but one thing I wanted to give you a heads up on is Aloe, simply because it’s one of the best ways to fight inflammation.

If you can fight it successfully and “put out the fire” a little, it gives your immune system a rest and allows it to focus on the Lyme bacteria itself.

Some people who haven’t had luck with aloe do so for two reasons. One they buy the diluted stuff from the catalogs or stores and Two, they don’t try it long enough. It’s most definitely a build up effect, although I’ve heard people who have taken it and had results immediately.

Aloe is a natural inflammation killer. It has a cooling effect and taken internally it provides not only anti-inflmmatory but also contains massive amounts of nutrients. Aloe is rich in Vitamins, Minerals, Enzymes, Amino Acids, Glycoproteins and Growth Factors believed to act synergistically to impart Aloe's powerful benefits.

It has been shown to stimulate the immune system, perhaps because of aloe vera's ability to nourish individual cells and to facilitate the cell's waste removal (which is a BIG deal for people who have neurotoxins from die-off of the Lyme bacteria).

One of its most important nutritional components of aloe juice, the Polysaccharide, has been shown to have anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and even anti-parasitic properties. This means it makes Lyme Disease very miserable inside your body.

Many people take aloe because of issues with their gut as it gives them great relief, but I’m here to say that I think it’s a must do for people with Lyme Disease! People with Lyme Disease have so many health issues, it’s pretty awesome to come across a product that can battle the disease and the by products of the disease on multiple fronts.

I could write about aloe all day, but I think you get the point. Back in 2003, before I knew I had Lyme Disease I was racing and getting ready for the 2004 Olympics and was introduced to this aloe:
http://www.healthtoheart.com/aloe-vera-juice.htm

It may have been one of those things that was helping me perform as such a high level, while being sick! Then in 2006 I started taking it again because I realized how much I needed it. I’ve been on it every since that time and continue with it just for maintenance.

The aloe here is a super concentrated form and made by some people in Colorado that have been in the aloe business for a VERY LONG TIME. In fact, their aloe is so damn good the FDA tried to shut them down because they had their aloe cream being used in hospitals and it was working “miracles” on burn victims (for those who want their cream or a list of their other products, please email arden). So the FDA had to find something wrong with them and shut them down because they had used the names of diseases on their website! And to be certified as FDA approved it costs BIG BUCKS. So I’m telling you this just so you’ll know how great a product it is.

The Aloe Oil is the only supplement I know of that contains the concentrated oil from an aloe plant. For people who have serious joint problems from the inflammation, put this on the goodie list. It can be used to repair damaged tissues.

http://www.healthtoheart.com/aloe-oil.htm

May 14th Rally

For those who wanted shirts, best place to get them is here (best to order today or tomorrow so you can have them by next Thursday!):

Get your BEAT LYME DISEASE SHIRTS HERE!

LymeCryme Website

If you have bugging questions on Lyme Disease like WHO, WHY and WHERE? I said last week that “The
Doctors” episode I was supposed to be on was Friday. I watched
on Friday in HORROR thinking my segment was cut. Then it
flashed on the screen, Summer Illnesses on Wednesday. I thought,
Summer Dangers, now Summer Illnesses. Perhaps they just had too
much material about summer!

Unfortunately I couldn’t get the producers to contact me back
about what day it’s actually showing. In TV you’re yesterday’s
news, before your show is even SHOWN to the public! I had these
ladies calling me everyday to make sure I would show up and now
they can’t return my phone call. Ah, show business!

So on this Wednesday there is a show about Summer Illness
that includes my segment, Lyme Disease, and things like
West Nile Virus. I didn’t even know there was a segment on Lyme
Disease because my part is about Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever!
They had already found someone else to talk about Lyme before
they contacted me, so I don’t even get to talk about Lyme.
However, a little something is better than nothing…so I’m okay
with that.

Helping People Who Can’t Help Themselves

I have find so many people with Lyme Disease that are hopeless,
or think praying will solve all their problems, or think the
government will take care of them, or cure them (if only there
were more funds for research.)

Now I’m not bashing prayer, so don’t make anything of that.
It’s important to believe and to have faith, but if you
spend more time praying than you do implementing,
then you might be one of those people who are just really sick
right now.

As far as the government is concerned, again I don’t like to
talk about Lyme being bio-warfare, but if it is, you should know
that the goal of bio-warfare is to maim (or kill) the weak,
already sick or injured.

Now do you really think someone is going to produce the magic
pill that makes your illness go away? Billions of dollars have
been spent on a cancer cure. I guess all those “Eat more
vegetables and fruits and Breast self-examination booklets” are
expensive to make!

My point is this: bio-warfare is meant to reduce populations,
but not to kill or permanently injure everyone. The healthy
survive; the sick don’t. The people eating at fast food places
everyday will be the first to go!

I found many people at the Lyme Rally I attended last week made
me really sad inside. I saw a lot of overweight people and I
thought is this, PRE LYME or POST LYME? Now
Sumo Wrestlers are overweight and actually very healthy. They
don’t eat junk and they eat tons of healthy soups to gain large
amounts of weight. They have no visceral fat. They have healthy
fat (there is such a thing) and their metabolic systems are
quite healthy. So I’m not bashing overweight people either. (I’m
a huge SUMO fan.) I just know some people at that rally weren’t
preparing for Sumo wrestling.

Your biological terrain has to be correct. I strongly
believe that 25% to 50% of the US population has Lyme Disease
(or some type of tick born bacteria.) You can live healthy with
it and you can get your body to take care of it.

But I’m amazed to see so many people instill all of their trust
in physicians who never talk about how important it is to
establish the right metabolic terrain. It’s job #1 people!

Then it seems people stay sick forever, then lose the desire to
go on and I get emails from people who said they have “tried
everything” but if you’re still sick, then you haven’t tried
everything have you? So you can't give up!

Lyme Lady of 15 Years

I was really hurt when I spoke to a woman who has had Lyme for
15 years. I sat across from her at lunch one day and spoke with
her. I had brought some of the electrolytes (that I have
previously mentioned in a newsletter) with me because from some
of her symptoms she described, I knew it would help her quickly.

I gave her some and asked her what it tasted like. She said,
“SUPER SALTY” and she looked like she could not even bear the
taste of it. Without explaining to her beforehand, I knew that
she was electrolyte deficient and imbalanced. I then explained
the product, the reason why she is unbalanced and how she can
fix it. I even gave her some to take home. She never ordered the
product (http://www.healthtoheart.com/fluid-electrolytes-drink.htm)

This means she still has the problem and this past week I saw
her at the rally. My mother went with me to the rally and asked
who she was. She said “That woman looks like she would fall over
if you touched her.” She looked frail. Her body was contorted
and worst than when I saw her previously, several months ago!

So she either didn’t care what I had to say or she
truly doesn’t want to get better. Either way, it is truly
perplexing. If I were sick and talking with someone who had the
disease and also has rosy checks, amazing energy, bright eyes,
and serious muscle tone, I would probably listen up. (I should
disclose that I looked a lot like this lady 3 years ago.)

...Or maybe it’s just a case of someone who has had the
disease for so long that they really think they know it all.

But it really hurt my feelings and makes me sad. Because I know
she’ll be sick forever!

Dr. Schaller

This doctor named Dr. Schaller was a speaker at the rally and
he’s a really funny guy. He really knows Lyme Disease. What
makes this physician different is that he does his own research!
He’s even tried alternative things (although I don’t know to
what extent, but at least he’s made the effort.) I actually
agreed with everything he said, which was surprising.

He said if you have had one bite, you’ve been bitten 10 times
before!

He believes the opposite of most LL MD’s which is “baby dosing”
with medications at first…not just all out assaulting someone
with different drugs. It made sense. But I felt like his speech
was too much about the different infections and different drugs
used for treatment. What about biological terrain?

He did mention two HUGE points which I’ve already tried to make in my
newsletters.

One is that mold inside a house is enough to keep someone sick ill. High humidity

always leads to mold, but you can have mold inside your house
from all kinds of sources (not just from FLOODING.)

When I said ozoning the air in your house as a MUST DO, I
really meant it. Large mold removal companies use ozone to
clean houses. I just kept going until there was
no place else to go and then I’d meet someone, I would have this
hunch, someone would email me something, or I would go out
looking for a specific someone. I don’t know if you can say
“build it and they will come,” it’s more like “look for it and
it will appear.” You can call it divine luck, a miracle, good
fortune, being right place/right time, ESP, but I do believe
everything happens for a reason.

All I can say is, I wish that the 2005 Perry could have known
the 2009 Perry. I have a lot of people asking me about which doctor they should see.

In fact, I get as many people asking me about doctors as I do people telling me that they’re upset about being misdiagnosed OR not getting the care they needed OR a doctor telling them that there’s no reason to test for Lyme.

I have to tell you right now, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news goes like this: no one doctor will ever have all of your answers. The most upsetting part about my journey (and it happens with most of us who have these strange complex autoimmune disorders like Lyme) is that doctors reach their plateau or comfort level when treating their patients. Most doctors have a certain belief on how Lyme should be treated (or any other disease.) Most doctors will not be actively going to seminars to learn the latest and they will at some point be limited in their ability to treat you.)

I’m not bashing the medical world. My grandfather was president of the South Carolina Medical Association. There’s an entire town in South Carolina that thinks he’s the greatest thing since Jesus Christ and I’m not exaggerating. Everyone in town is named “Perry” because he and his father and brother delivered almost every person in town, so they named their kids after them. The love of healing and curing and treating people runs deeps in my family.

It runs so deep that I was going to be a doctor, but in college I had a terrible food allergy and after seeing numerous doctors who just wanted to prescribe something for me, I lost my desire for it, particularly after realizing it was because I was gluten-intolerant, meaning I don’t do so well eating wheat, barley and other gluten containing foods. Not one specialist I went to see said, “Maybe it’s something you’re eating.” DUH.

The only time I could really get angry at a doctor during my Lyme ordeal was when I went to see the premiere Lyme Disease specialist in the Southeast and when I asked him about success rates (overall rates and success with certain medications), he could not tell me. I found this to be a huge disservice, as I believe if he really wanted to cure people, he would know what his success rates were.

You should be prepared ahead of time that to defeat Lyme takes multiple heads put together. It takes listening to people who have had success. Stop thinking you’re so different. Lyme Disease is Lyme Disease and almost every person with it has had multiple co-infections. That’s just part of it.

I can go even further and say people who get Lyme all have certain variables that are totally out of whack, but they can be corrected. The health of all individuals adheres to certain fundamentals… Which means I’m no different than YOU.

Be prepared to see different doctors and get different opinions. If you had a brain tumor, would you let your general practitioner operate on you or dictate the treatment to get? Heck, No! You would see MULTIPLE experts in different healthcare fields. You might see a Specialized Surgeon to take the tumor out and then see a Chinese Medicine Doctor to build your immune system back up. The people who do this have the most success, because there is so much out there you can’t expect one doctor to have all the answers. So don’t be frustrated or angry at your current doctor. They probably specialize in certain treatments and that’s their comfort zone, so respect it. Take what you need from each and appreciate their effort. Just know you’re going to have to move on at some point. Use your gut instinct to make that decision as to the time to move on.

During my ordeal I knew when I had reached a plateau with an individual doctor or healthcare provider and a certain kind of treatment and then it was ON TO THE NEXT BEST THING. I saw every type of person in every type of niched health care philosophy. Some things worked and some things were a waste of time.

People think beating Lyme Disease in a few years time is an awesome accomplishment. I think I could have done it in a year and some change had I known what to try. I didn’t have the luxury of knowing someone who had “been there and done that.” I was terribly depressed about the unknown, but I was certainly not paralyzed by it. The only way to get out of a situation is to take action. So my feelings were if nobody can help me, I will just figure it out myself.

At that time there were some Lyme forums with people taking about which medication they were on but nothing revolutionary. If I asked a question I got, “sorry you’re screwed, but don’t worry, some medications might make you feel better.” I thought, “Rip my heart out, why don’t ya?” I never went back.

The good news: You found me. I’m no Holy Grail, but you might be sick for a reason if you haven’t utilized me as a resource yet. I obviously can’t talk about everything in my newsletters for fear of it being construed as medical advice. I can’t even call it a “consult.”

The bottom line: You’re wasting time, money and your life by sitting around spinning in circles if you haven’t contacted me yet. Empowering yourself with knowledge means you can take control of the situation. It means you can seek out the right treatments and you will know immediately if it’s best for you or what you should do next. It means you take control of your own destiny. It means having a direction and path and plan of action that will lead to success.

Having WONDERFUL, multiple disciplinary doctors is great, but the TREATMENTS & Knowledge (and I should say some Diagnostic Testing) are the real stars.

Email Arden to get some serious “coaching.”

The Doctors Today

Yep, I talked about it before and it’s on TV this today on CBS. “The Doctors” are doing a show about staying safe during the summer. I’m interviewed on Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (which was one of my co-infections.) They didn’t want to talk about Lyme (since they had already done a show on that, so no frowny faces, at least they covered a tick born illness which means they are up on the times.) It was hard for me not to mention Lyme Disease, but I did what I was told to do. I do that occasionally.

Dr. Handsome (oops, I mean Dr. Stork) had some interesting things to say about how he treats RMSF in an ER environment. (He’s an ER doctor.) Some people who get it must go to the hospital immediately and it does become life threatening.

Check your local listings to see when it comes on in your area.

Lyme Rally

The Lyme Rally in SC was yesterday and my next newsletter will be on what I found surprising. You don't want to miss it. Go to www.BeatLyme.com and sign up for my newsletter if you have not already.

Expect the Best,

Perry

P.S. I just got my first email from a Lymie who has started using the aloe I suggested in the last newsletter and she said after 3 days she’s already noticing a huge difference with her inflammation symptoms (like itchy burning skin.) When I mention a product or treatment, take it seriously. I’m telling you things I know to be of high quality that work.

The superstar aloe is here: http://www.healthtoheart.com/aloe-vera-juice.htm
Go to www.BeatLymeDisease.com to find out more!
beatlymediseasehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06505197258169881133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5118716550216910140.post-34556887616511963822009-05-15T11:07:00.004-04:002009-06-02T17:07:52.263-04:00BeatLyme.com Has A New BlogOkay Lyme Disease Friends and Family,

I've finally have a Lyme Disease Blog other than MySpace.
Honestly, I don't get MySpace so much and maybe that's why I don't blog that much (and I usually just don't have time).

My Myspace is here: http://www.myspace.com/beatlymedisease

The Beat Lyme Disease website is here: http://www.beatlyme.com/

I will work hard at posting more about Lyme Disease treatment, my journey back to track and field from Chronic Lyme Disease and RMSF (Rocky Moutain Spotted Fever) and also the progress of my book about Lyme and what I had to do to get rid of it.
